Here is a small sample of Cy Broman's 1/1200 scale models. Broman started scratchbuilding in the 1950s and continued for about 20 years, although I don't know the exact dates. Some builders adopt a style and level of detail and stay with it throughout their careers, while others develop their techniques and increase the level and quality of detail. Broman did the latter. He incorporated plastic in his models early on and experimented with resins. Most of his models were of USN ships but he did do some foreign ships as well as some merchant ships.

to see in the photo, but the wire cage
masts are very accurately made. The railings
are hand made. No photo etched brass back then.


USS STARR This model was likely made later in his career.

Broman ran HR Products for decades, producing parts that many 1200 scale modelers have used.

Broman served in WW II, but not in the Navy. Instead he served in the USAAC, and flew 25 missions in B-17's.
