I ordered this model when first listed in 1981, but my dealer was already out of stock. I do not know how many were produced, but the master and/or mould were damaged, and the number of finished models was very limited.

Searching for Hai 177 became a primary 1250 effort for me, finally rewarded by getting one from Helmut Just in 1994. Within a few years, I obtained two more FDRs.....one I modified to CORAL SEA (in an early 1950s rig with a semi-enclosed bow) and one of them I redid as MIDWAY 1945.

All became surplus for me by 2009-11 when Neptun released MIDWAY and CORAL SEA. The original Hai FDR was sold at Annapolis 2012, the CORAL SEA mod at this year's Kassel, and the MIDWAY mod also now gone.

It is a pity that more were not produced, it was a very good model for its time. The 3"/50 guns were somewhat clunky, but otherwise it is a nice model.
