I have NEVER moved without driving my models to my hew home personally. Would recommend the same for anybody.
Do not trust the movers! They have no idea how to care for boxes with little ships in them. kk Secure each model in its own individual box using sticky tape and foam packing. Beware how they are delivered--they cannot throw the boxes around. Pack them in strong corrugated cardboard boxes with padding all around. Use packing tape on every flap (top & bottom) and the corners. Use many boxes- limit the number of models in each big box. They should be packed as though you will be sending them by USPS. Many boxes I have received from USPS over decades of collecting were delivered by air--and dropped out of the plane from above3 0,000 ft. altitude-- keep this in mind when ordering models or shipping them.
Dear SMSC colleagues,
I hope to get some advice. We are going to move out of Missouri in a couple of months and I will need to pack up my collection--all1200+ models.I saved most of the boxes but I suspect the tape in many will need to be replaced. What doubles sided tape do you recommend?
If anyone wants to see the Collection before it moves you will have to get to Columbia in October; otherwise you will have to come to Colorado.
Thanks for your help.[ Douglas C Miller MD,PhD.
