Here are some of the Popular Science models made from kits in the 1930s. Although the carrier is modeled as SARATOGA, the kit could have been used for either ship.
These commercial kits were pretty crude, even by the standards of the time. On the other hand, during the 1930s Popular Mechanics magazine provided plans for ship models, and in some cases kits in 1:600, that turned out to be fairly decent models.
I saw this really neat old kit today on another website I frequent. I thought others might find it interesting as well.
