This is a semi-educated guess, but it appears, from the one photo I could find of Porcupine , to be in a Measure 22 scheme. This was one of the more common camouflage schemes used by the US Navy during the war.
If I am correct, the colors would be:
Navy Blue 5-N on the hull
Haze Gray 5-H on the superstructure
Deck Blue 20-Bon the decks
Details here:
Measure 22
there were Liberty a/c transports with larger hatches, liberties with a/c on deck, and T2 tankers with skeleton decks for a/c , but i have not seen one of the station tanker liberties with a/c aboard! it would be logical that they were fully loaded with fuel . colour blue hull? deck blue , light grey structure seems to match the photo!
USS Porcupine WW2 Liberty Ship - tanker
I’m painting a model of this ship. From the photos I have seen she has what appears to be light grey superstructure and a darker coloured hull.
Can anyone identify the colours used? Some of these vessels were used to transport aircraft, can anyone please direct me to any photos of their doing this?
Many thanks.
