Dan beat me to the identification. I wasn't aware that either model had 3 red crosses on the hull, but I only have the two funnel variant in my collection and I cannot get to the cabinet that holds that model to check it out.
The film shows the aircraft with grey discs on their fuselages. Were they grey or has the red faded on this film?
Interesting!!!! Nice find!
This is probably the Tenno Maru (ex Dutch Op Ten Noort). According to the TROMs at the Combined Fleet website, the hospital ship spent a lot of time in the Rabaul and Truk area. Tenno Maru later had a dummy funnel added and a name change to Hikawa Maru No.2 to disguise her true identity. CM Minatures makes the Op Ten Noort as both a passenger ship (CM 304) and a hospital ship (CM-P 1245). CM also makes the Hikawa Maru No. 2 (CM-P 68) as a hospital ship.
