The old Mercator models was excellent, but very few survive with the included masts intact. I had to do replacement masts on mine decades ago. I think mine are due for an upgrade.

I don't believe there is much distinction between cable repair and cable laying ships these days. Cable handling is done over the stern, including repair and ROV operations. Besides quarters for technical personnel there is also a large amidships cable hold. There are five ships in the Reliance class (and no models), Reliance, Responder, Resolute, Dependable and Decisive. They call often to load cable at Tyco/Subcom here on the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth NH. They do repair work and handle unmanned submersibles using the stern gear. The last closest model being Hansa S 101 Long Lines (1963-2003) which also called often here. Sammelhafen lists about 30-40 cableships mostly older, some more modern, and some conversions. I think this probably works to list those:
