And this seems to be a whole side on russian volunteer ships during the RJW:

According to Bernhard Gomm, in his multi-volume tome on the Russian Imperial fleet (vol. VI) (1996), Kuban was armed in 1904 with 2 X 4.7" guns and 4 X 3" guns as well as 2 machineguns. The 4.7" guns were mounted on either side of the forward superstructure. The 3" were mounted 1 on the forecastle, 1 on the poop, and 1 each on the sides in the aft well between poop and superstructure deck. The guns did not have shields.
In 1904, Germany sold the fast liner Augusta Victoria to Russia. She was renamed to Kuban and became an auxiliary cruiser.
My question: what guns were added to her? How many? And where?
