Stephan (Masters of Military) and I would like to introduce our next 3 miniatures in 1:1250 which we made together:
these are 3 different types of tank landingships of SS class in condition of 1944 which were constructed for the Imperial Japanese Army.
In order to be able to carry out landing operations independently of the Japanese navy, the Japanese army itself issued orders for landing ships in the 1930s. This resulted for example in the Sinshu Maru, a mother ship with smaller landing crafts. Shinshu Maru was successfully used for the landing in Bias Bay in October 1938, whereby the low speed of the landing craft was recognized as a hindrance to landing operations.
Then experimented with seagoing landingships which could land tanks directly at the beach.
As a result of that tests, the prototype Koryu Maru, later SS No. 1, was ordered.
The extended test type followed later, the Banryu Maru, SS No. 2, in which the navy also showed interest.
Finally, an order for series production of 20 units followed, the type ship of that class was Kairyu Maru, SS No. 3.
Greetings and have fun with the models,
