UV cured grey resin.
It's still got some lines (0.03mm layers) but about the same as the Shapeways Fine Detail plastic but this resin is much less brittle and survives a lot of handling.
Not had it long but it's addictive (probably just the resin fumes)
Not sure about going brittle but some clear resins can go yellow if left in sunlight. This stuff is quite tough and you can buy lots of different resin types with varying properties.
It takes about 3 hours to print a batch of 5-6 of those models with a material cost of about 30p (50c) each. The printer is a bit more!
There's also quite a lot of messing around with removing supports and cleaning once the print has finished.
It does take a bit of practice to get good prints so there are a few failures at first.
