Yes HMS Cavellier is Grand. While you're as going there check the old Russian sub languishing in a river close by. Bought for a 'project', untouched due to fears of nuclear torpedo warhead radiation(?!).
My favorite USS Truxtun. Dad took us to Long Beach Harbor seeing an old DE, USS Truxtun was the along side. I walked up the ramp& polightly ask 'sirs' to come aboard. They refused, it nuclear-powered (and armed?). I have the Viking Forge model, looking for one bigger.
Slightly different memory for me.
In 1953/4 at nearly 4 years old,I spent over 4 months in isolation hospital with Scarlet Fever and complications. I don't have many good memoriesof that time. But my father scratch built me several small ships to play with. My favourite was one, which was a RN War emergency destroyer with 4.5" armament. Scale would have been about 1\600 from memory, I can still see it inmy hand.
Unfortunately when I was discharged I had to leave everything in the hospital so as not to spread infection.
Pictures or films of these vessels always trigger mixed feelings for me
Once the lockdowns are lifted I plan a visit to HMS Cavalier at Chatham.
