HMS Campbeltown and USS Ward, both Argos models. Campbeltown was originally USS Buchanan DD-131, sister to USS Ward DD-139, both Wickes class destroyers. Campbeltown was a lend-lease destroyer and was destroyed (intentionally) by explosives after ramming a German controlled dry dock in St. Nazaire as part of an RN raid in March '42. Ward fired the first US shots of the war at the entrance to Pearl Harbor when she sank a Japanese min-sub early on Dec. 7, '41. She was later converted to an APD and scuttled off Leyte after being hit by a kamikaze, December '44. What do they have in common? They were both converted from their original purpose as destroyers into troop carriers and were sunk fulfilling those roles. Connection between the models? My guess, they are sister ships, so one is a conversion of the other.
Identify these ships (and models) and a connection between them. (Maybe an extra connection between the models?)
