Re: The end of an era
He was honored in 2008 for an outstanding contribution to the hobby at the SMSC Meeting in New York.
Peter is an icon of the industry. I wonder if there is a way as a collective (or SMSC) to honor his service in the industry that that we all enjoyed.
Peter Wiedling has announced that he is closing his business by June 30. A true giant of the hobby, one of the most prominent and influential of all our dealers, the business dates back to the 1930's and was started by his father Egon. Peter assisted many producers to get started by encouraging them and assisting them, buying their first productions. Rudi Kraus (Neptun Navis) sold his first models, as a young man to Peter, and in 1997 Peter took a chance on my very first SMY productions. A wonderful gentleman and a longtime friend, he will be sorely missed.
