Re: The end of an era
Not only his service as a model dealer; his warship and merchant ship registers were a great help to the collector. I met him first when I went to Germany in the mid-1990s on other business. A great contributor to our community.
Peter Wiedling has announced that he is closing his business by June 30. A true giant of the hobby, one of the most prominent and influential of all our dealers, the business dates back to the 1930's and was started by his father Egon. Peter assisted many producers to get started by encouraging them and assisting them, buying their first productions. Rudi Kraus (Neptun Navis) sold his first models, as a young man to Peter, and in 1997 Peter took a chance on my very first SMY productions. A wonderful gentleman and a longtime friend, he will be sorely missed.
