I don't know if I would rank it the absolute "best" Superior model, but the first one of the very much improved Superior models that I got was back in the early '70s when I got their upgraded USS Massachusetts with the separately cast secondary batteries and improved masts. After that, I was disappointed whenever I ordered a new model from them and it was one of the older variants. Then, for some reason, for a period in the '90s, they started casting them on the hull again, with the clunky fill-in between the barrels. I considered that a definite step backward in quality at the time, and one of the things that pushed me to the N-N models. I still order from them periodically, but mostly their models of design and cancelled ships. Previous Message
I think that many in our community would agree that makers such as Neptun, Spider Navy, Seavee and a handful of others represent the apex of the model-producers mountain. I also suspect that many collectors, especially in North America, got their start collecting Comet/Authenticast/Superior models. Now, I'd like people to chime in please... What Comet/Superior/Authenticast model was/is the best with regard to casting quality, fidelity of detail, and overall best "look?"
