Anyone in our current audience who attended the Alnavco 40th Anniversary celebration in Norfolk in 2005 would agree that with patience, some scratch built upgrades, and a careful paint job the Superior models can turnout to be very pleasing models. Mike Meyer, John Olsen, Dan Muir, and I all brought examples of their favorite Superior models. Maybe, sharing a few pictures would lend credence to my opinion.
At this time I am upgrading my Superior Maru's with scratchbuilt masts and cranes, a complete re-paint, Figurehead deck cargo, Cap Aero "cocooned" aircraft and now adding Paper Labs extraordinary IJN AA guns and I really like the results. They will never be Neptun/Spider Navy/SeaVee etc. models but they can sail alongside these gems in a diorama and they are all unique because you the modeler did all the work. Previous Message

I think that many in our community would agree that makers such as Neptun, Spider Navy, Seavee and a handful of others represent the apex of the model-producers mountain. I also suspect that many collectors, especially in North America, got their start collecting Comet/Authenticast/Superior models. Now, I'd like people to chime in please... What Comet/Superior/Authenticast model was/is the best with regard to casting quality, fidelity of detail, and overall best "look?"
