Re: Figurehead Models
I use Evergreen Scale Models Strip Styrene of many sizes to create deck cargo boxes: .80x.80, .100x.100 or cut them from .100x.250 strips. I square up the ends and paint them various colors, wood, brown, gray, tan--what ever. Your local hobby or model railroad shop should have them. I use one of those cutting boards that use razor blades to cut. With Evergreen's plastic you can "go wild" creating miniature items of many kinds.
I have a substantial number of Japanese, British and USN merchantmen that I am going to upgrade with improved masts and derricks and improved paint jobs along with Darius Lipinski's marvelous deck guns, cowls and rafts. That said I have some Cap Aero packets of aircraft I can paint to look like they are cocooned on the decks.
But I was really hoping to add to my meagre supply of Figurehead Deck Cargo packets but there are not nearly enough to put more than one or two bits per freighter. I cannot find a source for more Figurehead packs of IJN and RN/USN deck cargo. Can anyone put me on the scent to find more?
