RFA was established prior to WWI. During the war several RFA vessels were painted in Dazzle colors. RFA INDUSTRY was the prototype for Dazzle camouflage paint. But the standard color for most was overall slate grey. TREFOIL, and her sister, TURMOIL, were of an early experimental small oiler design. They were mechanically unsatisfactory and probably were never given camouflage, although other later "ol"class ships were. The only wartime picture I've ever seen appears to be overall dark grey.
What color schemes did RFA wear during WWI? In particular I am looking at RFA Trefoil but also others. I've found some pics but they are black and white of course. I think I see either: 1. White hull, black upperworks/stacks or 2. Black hull with white/grey upperworks and a white/grey/buff stack?
Any thoughts?
