Also, from your knowledge of ship models, does Konishi having zinc hulls mean they were also also diecast, like all Tri-angs? Perhaps it is cheaper to make diecast molds in Asia than Europe?
Acetone also dissolves the cornea in your eyes, so wear goggles when using it as a paint stripper. I knew that methylene chloride paint strippers had disappeared in Europe but not in the States. The chief danger is suffocation rather than poisoning but that does not prevent it from being fatal... Those of us with an interest in ships and boats might like to remember that water is dangerous in large enough quantities but you cannot live without it.
Acetone (also known as nail polish remover) is very reactive and has a low combustion temperature in its vapor form. As it evaporates very quickly it is wise to use very carefully and keep away from any kind of flame. By the way if using the wife's nail polish remover make sure to use the non-oily type.
