I fear that this warning may have arrived too late because I believe that all paste paint strippers that I know of contain sodium hydroxide...
Since Konishi mainly uses zinc for the hull and larger components you might be able to restore the surface and remove the oxide coating (off-white powder) using very fine wet & dry paper and a fibreglass pencil followed by the use of an etch-primer paint (which often contains zinc compounds for the pigment and does not cause further corrosion of the metal). I am trying to strip paint from a brass and zinc Konishi ship model. Conventional paint stripper, type that comes as a thick paste, does not seem to work. Can anyone recommend an effective stripper for the oil based paint on the Konishi?
