Re: Shields on Japanese single 25mm AA guns
Thanks, Paul and Thermopylae. Since single 25mm mounts were so prevalent, especially in the late Pacific war, and often placed near the main gun turrets, it would seem that the gunners would be battered by blast from the guns, as well as dangers from strafing and shell fragments.
I'm a longtime IJN buff and I've never seen a hint of a shield on a single.
There are a lot of photos in books and on line and I havenít seen any with shields.
I have seen shields attached to the left-hand side of single Japanese 25mm guns in 1/200 and 1/700 scales.
Has any one seen such shields in photographs of the actual single guns placed on Japanese warships?
All 25mm single guns do appear to be placed on circular bases attached to the decks of warships, although some are only a partial circular base when space does not allow full circular base.
