Re: Good to Know N/T
Unfortunately, the Argonaut Bathurst is completely inaccurate. I did a conversion and correction some years ago, then redid a correct conversion for my forthcoming Seaforth book on naval ship models of WW II. Chapter 17 covers the Hokoku Maru, Ondina and Bengal. This has detailed photos on the Bathurst conversion to Bengal.
I read Daren's comment and did what I should have done previously, looked on Sammelhafen. An Argonaut Bathurst is listed there and a photo is shown.
...the model of Hokoku Maru which is not by any of the makers noted so far.
I also looked for a Bathurst for this quiz and came to the conclusion that nobody makes one...
Models are Ondina - CM in civilian livery and Hokoku Maru - probably Hai, although CM also made one of both her and her sister Aikoku Maru.
11/42 The Hokoku Maru and sister Aikoku Maru, Japanese liners converted into AMCs got into a gun battle with Ondina, a Royal Dutch Shell tanker (there is a model of her as an AMC as well) and HMIS Bengal, an Indian corvette, in the Indian Ocean. A shell from Ondina reportedly sank Hokoku.
As an aside, I've been looking for a model of Bengal, a Bathurst -class minesweeper/corvette, produced primarily for the Australians. A cross between the Flower corvettes and Ton class minesweepers. Don't think one has been produced.
This one should be straightforward except one of the models...connection, ships, and models?
