Re: IJN Underway Replenishment
The attached pics seem to show side by side replenishment between a Japanese destroyer and a Japanese capital ship. From the placement of the twin HA 5 inch guns on the capital ship it is most likely a battleship. This is probably early war as the identification stripe on the funnel is absent as are any characters on the side of the hull of the destroyer. No anti-aircraft upgrades have been performed on the destroyer that might have included a triple 25mm in front of the bridge and the super-firing twin 5 inch gun house aft is still in place. On the Asashio thru Yugumo class this was usually replaced by 2 x triple 25 mm mounts. These anti-aircraft updates were performed in 1943-44. If someone can read Japanese they may be able to provide more details.
