Re: Stauffenberg Models
The story, as told to me, is that he was a nephew of Claus Von Stauffenberg. At the time of the bomb plot against Hitler, he was serving in the army on the eastern front, and knew nothing about it. When the SS rounded up everyone connected with the family, they came looking for him. But his superiors hid him from them, and said he was somewhere on the front lines. The SS men didnít want to get close to the fighting so they left, and he was never apprehended.
After the war, he inherited some of the family property, became a prosperous businessman and the family name was a plus. He lived on a large estate in southern Germany, and had his own private entrance and exit to and from the nearby autobahn.
I donít know when he started making models or much about it. I believe that he made the masters but had them cast by someone else, possibly Rudi Kraus. He then did all the paint and finish work.
I think Ulrich, and maybe Paul, know the full story.
