Tom Blackburn's "The Jolly Rogers". Covers Blackburn's World War II. A real eye-opener on training (he says the withdrawal of the Buffalo from frontline service was a boon to the training squadrons) and the Corsair. VF-17 was to be the first Corsair squadron with the carriers, but was pulled at the last second after going all the way to Pearl Harbor with Bunker Hill. Blackburn makes it clear it was a supply issue, and had nothing to do with the Corsair's performance.
