Glomar Explorer, not Glomar Challenger
The Rodkling model is Glomar Explorer which is a different ship than Glomar Challenger.
I don't know which ship the possible Nordic Customs model represents. But there is no commercial model of Glomar Challenger that I am aware of.
There have been a couple of them over the years. One was relatively crude and came from Norway I believe. I do not remember the name of the producer. Nordic Customs perhaps? The other model by Rod Kling looks spectacular but has MANY errors with the tower and pipe loading facilities. You don't notice these until you have looked at some photos up close and then they become glaring. The price is pretty high too but I think it is now out of production.
Reminder: For those with questions about what ships might have been made in our scale, your first course of action is to check: https://sammelhafen.de/en/index.php
Sammelhafen is continually be upgraded and currently has about two thirds of the ships in our scale listed and photographed. Of course there are other sources but sammelhaven is a very good place to start your search.
Has anybody made a model of the Glomar Challenger? The ship was historically important for gathering evidence to support the idea of plate tectonics.
