Re: Rhenania Gotland 90 vs 90a? What is the difference?
I was thinking more along the lines of new research into what was fitted to the ship at a particular time being incorporated into a revised model as opposed to model makers being able to resolve technical problems of model making as they gain experience over time.
Perhaps. But if you put the two models next to each other there’s no difference other than the changes I mentioned. The quality of the castings and the level of detail is identical.
If I remember a conversation correctly that I had with Norbert when he re-issued Gotland, one correct answer to the question of differences between the two versions might be, "20 years of experience"!
I have both models. The differences are so minor as to be hard to find without very close examination. There are four tiny single shieldless (20MM?) guns added, and one shielded gun (100MM?)located behind the second funnel has been replaced with an open mount twin AA gun. That is all that I can find.
I do not think this is correct.
I have found at least 3 other references times.
As far as I can tell the 1940 and 1942 Gotland should be identitical. The ship was modified in 1936/37 and 1944.
