But the Exeter ID is correct (but recall she had three sisters who are candidates).
Well..the ships are SS Exeter and St Sunniva.
Exeter became the Attack Transport USS Edward Rutledge and was sunk in Operation Torch by U-130.
St Sunniva was an depot ship in Scapa until requisitioned to replace the Zaafaran ( PQ17 ) and was lost with all hands on her first convoy in January 1943 ( probably capsized due to icing ).
I can't imagine where these two were together in wartime, perhaps they met pre-war?
They were both built in 1931.
