Where is this lovely little beastie available?
These unprecedented times prompted a discussion on the "other" message board regarding what long forgotten, unbuilt, model treasures may be waiting in the loft for such times and this, in turn, prompted other posts displaying the work of some very talented model makers. My contribution was to show the excellent work of Paul Jacobs on my model of USS POPE. At long, long last, I finally produced a model from my CAD. As a first, I was reasonably satisfied, but, not completely happy with the funnels or guns. Nevertheless, Paul did his usual, expert job on the basic kit, Adding his own guns, crow's nest, decals and even opening the spaces on the propeller guards.
Both Paul and Jeff Stevenson, who also build a sample model. did not consider it a beginner's kit due to the many parts.
In my defence, I did it this way to ease conversions and customising without too much major surgery as there were obviously many 4-stacker variants. I do plan, as time permits, to add other kits of the 4-stackers that did indeed have major surgery in real life.
I'm always amazed what these expert model makers can do with a basic kit, so, maybe, while we're all confined to barracks, it would be nice to see more of their models, conversions and techniques?
