We have selected the Wyndham San Diego Bayside, same as in 2014. With its location in walking distance to the Midway, Harbor Tours, Berkeley Ferry Museum, Star of India, and more, this is ideal for any Navy buff.
In addition, Fleetweek San Diego is scheduled for November 11-15, 2020. The exact schedule has not been announced, yet, but there will be great opportunities to visit Navy ships. We will not organize any group visits for this, so you will be on your own, As soon as the Navy announces the schedules for these visits, I will post them here.
Also, the Wyndham is directly opposite the cruise terminal. During my last visit there in April last year, 3 cruise ships were docked at the same time.
The Wyndham has agreed to the rate of $169++during our event. Next week, I will publish here the hotel reservation procedure to get this rate.
Since Saturday/Sunday are the busiest days for ship visits during fleetweek, I recommend that you arrive in time, to visit ships on Friday, if possible.
For Saturday, we have rented a ballroom in the Wyndham. We will use this ballroom for exhibits and buying and selling. In addition, we also would like to use the ballroom on Saturday for presentations that relate to our hobby. Is there anything that you would like to share with all of us, here is your opportunity. If interested, please contact me, or post it here on the board.
There will be no table fees for sellers or exhibitors. But the SMSC is always grateful for donations.
Please stay tuned for more details and announcements.
