Bob - I think is actually is DeKalb. There is a bow-on still of DeKalb, purportedly leaving New York Harbor, at the Navsource website. The camouflage pattern lines up quite well to my eye. I think the flush-deck appearance of this vessel may have a lot to do with those areas being surrounded by the dark paint areas, creating a flush-deck effect. Just my opinion, though.
I believe De Kalb had a break between forecastle and midships and also towards the stern, as well as a longer bridge structure. This ship seems to be flush-decked.
Could it be USS DeKalb? The former German Prinz Eitel Friedrich?
The clip is short, but kind of neat. It is purported to be an American troop ship leaving NY Harbor in WWI. Can anyone identify the ship?
