Thank you for posting this. I knew Wayne only through correspondence, but didnít know his extensive history. I did get one or two of his productions, and provided him with a Bessarabis model that he copied in resin and sold to collectors. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
I have just learned that Wayne Moyer has recently passed away. It wasn't recent either but I just learned about it today and wondered if the rest of you knew about this? https://www.newcomerdayton.com/Obituary/156150/Wayne-Moyer/Dayton-OH
Wayne was mostly into 1/43 scale car models and had published many articles in a large variety of magazines about them. To the 1:1200 ship model community he is best known for his work in creating resin copies of the South Salem Studios merchant ship set. He also produced a 1:1200 model of the USS Olympia and possibly one or two others. Models were obtained from Wayne in three version. Some were just bare bones kits, others had a piece of blue plastic for a base and of course he also sold these as finished models. I cannot locate my catalog from 20 years ago but I believe the name of his company was simply 1:1200 Ships. The molds are probably long gone for these. I bought a few of his kits about 12 years ago. He struggled with the molds at that time as they were already nearly dead back then. His copy of what some consider to be the Asama Maru was in really bad shape. Wayne could not get the lifeboats to cast properly anymore. I bought it from him anyway. Wayne always tried to help. He was a good guy and I am sure modelers will miss him.
