Re: IJN Nisshin scratch built by Miles Vaughn
Actually, he was in Japan prior to the war and sailed back to the US on one of the Repatriation/ Exchange ships as a boy. I wasn't able to get which one, but it was not ASAMA MARU. (There is a 87 yr. old Miles S. Vaughn listed in Sun City, AZ, formerly of Tucson).
Attached is a photo of a IJN Nisshin model scratch built by Miles Vaughn.
This pic shows the handwriting on the bottom of the model. Many that dealt with Miles will probably recognize his handwriting. He always said the correct way to refer to Japanese warships was IJS not IJN. I believe he lived in Japan as a boy as his dad had a job in Japan after the war.
