I suspect demand in the UK for a BL high-detail model of a small French destroyer prior to WW2 would have been almost non-existent.
These would have been exactly the type of models contracted out to a wide variety of makers by BL when the need for large numbers of wartime recognition models arose.
There would not have been the same quality and configuration control over these as there would have been in Northampton.
I think it was Paul who pointed out that the Head Collection was enormous and contained many duplicates, often with variations - probably why Derek Head carried on collecting them. His book contains pictures of only a fraction of the collection.
A model sold from the collection as "illustrated on p43" of his book (for example) may not actually be the model pictured but one of a number of similar but very slightly different models of the same ship from the collection.
