Re: Removing paint from castings, Pt 2
Sorry, forgot the "Why" part...
Pine Sol is cheap, non-toxic, doesn't stink to high heaven, and is pretty biodegradable. I can also use it clean my floors.
I use Pine-Sol cleaner. The model needs to soak for a couple days, but it usually softens the paint so that a gentle scrubbing with an old toothbrush removes it.
I know it's been discussed before... but I can't find it.
What is the best cleaner for removing paint from castings? I seem to recall that Simple Green is highly thought of. I also recall that brake fluid is not as well thought of any more, due to chemical changes to suit modern brakes. Lacquer thinner was another choice, but requires excellent ventilation -- and it dissolves plastic. I also recall a Polly S product that worked well, but they are no longer in business... :( Are there others I'm missing that I should be considering? A quick note on what you prefer (and why) would be greatly appreciated!
