I have an old horse (29 1/2) that has sarcoids and has had them for several years. They started as inflamed tick bites from running out in the sagebrush. They then hardened into cyst like tumors. They vary in size from 1/4" to 1 1/2" in diameter. I had one biopsied and it came back as a non-malignant sarcoid. He has several in his flank area and between his rear legs, he also has some scaly sarcoidoma on his upper throat area. I was told to treat that with tootpaste and a toothbrush daily (ols farmer trick). That seemed to help but annoyed him more that the scaly stuff did! I used Healing Trees "TeaPro" on it with great results. It softened it but it has never dissappeared. My vet told me that it is more cosmetic in horses than medically threatening. Last summer one of the larger ones appeared to rupture. It looked like it was turning inside out. I had a new vet by then and he removed it and sent it in for a biopsy. Just a cyst sort of sarcoid again. It hasn't returned. I also have a mule that had a grey lump appear on his eyebrow. It started pretty small then it grew to about quarter size and was really ugly. One day it looked like he has scraped it on something. It scabbed over but the scab kept slipping off. It looked awful. Finally one day he really scraped it and it is now gone. This took about 6 months total to go away. Don't know if I helped but that's been my experience with soft tissue tumors. BTW neither animal is gray, The horse is a chestnut Arabian and the mule is a bay.
