Is it in the skin, or possibly protruding from a bone base? I had a horse who had a cyst growing out of her forehead that was actually a misplaced tooth, sometimes called an eartooth that usually grows just under the ear, but can grow pretty much anywhere. Her "tooth" actually grew out of her forehead to about the size of a golf ball and she looked like a unicorn. We had it removed and decided that if you take "unicorn" and take away the "horn" you are left with a "unique" horse, so that is her name. (very corny, you have to say it aloud to get it.)
