I think that we all have different views of what a pasture ornament is. I did not know that Joyce did not have zebras, I dont know where I have been but i might have been lost. By the way George, its a pleasure meeting you (even if its through a forum). As you might have read in previous thread, I want to acquire a zebra in the future, and I have also mentioned that I do not want a pasture ornament. What you have said has made me think things through, and what you say about zebras being a pasture ornament even in the wild seems very legit to me. In my eyes, I would not want to be economically in charge or care for an animal that does not provide us humans with anything, and anything to me means pleasure, work, enjoyment, family time, etc. But you have made me look at the situation in a brand new way, YES the zebra would be a pasture ornament, but it could be a pasture ornament that "works" for its upkeep. In other words, its being productive in such way that its providing my family and I with pleasure or enjoyment not only to the eyes but as a whole; driving, riding*, educating the public (the zebra would have to be very tame), parades, and overall the knowledge that I can at least not be scared of going to the pastures, because many zebra owners who keep the zebra as a "pasture ornament" soon find out what the zebra has turned into in a span of a couple years. So this could be the way Joyce is looking at the problem, Maybe she thinks that an animal needs to be productive in which ever way. This is how I look at things.
