I had to go looking for the comment by Joyce that you were addressing. Now that I have found it, let me address the topic from another perspective.
First of all, there may be some disagreement amongst us all as to just what a "pasture ornament" is. To some that probably means that if you are parked on the road with a good pair of binoculars, you can get a really good look at a really cool pasture ornament. To others it might mean an animal that doesn't provide any particularly useful benefit to the owner other than the pleasure of having it around. I see a LOT of mini-donkeys standing in pastures. Nothing more than pasture ornaments. I noticed a couple of llamas in a pasture this week. Ornaments, in all likelihood, although it is remotely possible that someone is collecting and using the wool. As for my zebras......
Mine are what I would consider classical pasture ornaments. I got them after having horses for twenty years -- a lot of work. Also after having cattle for many years -- not fun to nurse them, baby them, fatten them and sell them for somebody to slaughter.
