That's the way I have always interpreted his behavior. He wants to be dominant and he has to be consistantly reminded that he isn't. I always felt that if I gave him an inch he would want to be a ruler! Whiskey is clearly the dominant equine in our herd but Zanze still pushes the envelope. Some days I think Whiskey is way too patient with him- but then he'll have enough and chase him around awhile, with Zanze squeaking all the way. You and Charlie have a very special relationship.
