That behavior usually is associated with aggression and dominance. Even though I have "played" with the horses in similar games, never to the extent that I do with Charlie. I guess the difference is that he comes into the game submissively and doesn't mind loosing, in fact, I think he prefers to loose! If ever the day comes when he wants to win the game, however subtle it may be, we will discontinue it. Charlie doesn't play with any of the horses. He and they pretty much pretend that each other doesn't exist. I am his buddy, and naturally, it would be impractical and illogical to hurt your buddy. Similar to the way Doug Seus played with Bart the Bear. He would wrestle with him as an adult grizzly bear. Bart always knew to be gentle and to stop when asked. That was definately an animal/handler relationship to be admired!
