Ok, your answer wasn't posted yet when I posted mine or I wouldn't even have bothered! You're going to be our metabolism expert from now on.
I had an old horse who couldn't chew hay but he still wanted the flavor. He would take a mouthful to the water trough and soak it and suck it like bubble gum- then spit it out. He did well on the Horse Chow for years.
