Sue, I wonder about your conclusion that you got a combination of foods that totalled 21% protein. I don't think "totalling" it is correct at all. To me the protein they would be getting would be equal to the food with the highest content. In our case, 16% was the highest. That was the Foal-lac for our first one and sweet feed for the second one.
As an interesting side note to the feed topic, ours will eat 12%, 14% or 16% sweet feed but won't touch the 10%. They also will refuse any we buy that has corn in it. We tried a couple of bags when it seemed that putting a little fat on them before winter would be a good idea. When they refused to eat it, we took it back to the mill and they gladly exchanged it for 16% no-corn.
