Yes Loren, some adult bull camels can be VERY aggressive when they are in rut, and unfortunately, people a lot of times DO NOT do the proper unbiased self education that is required. Just like all the dang people who think, "I have trained and owned horses for years, I am SURE I know enough to do the same with a zebra"! (Ha ha, I won't even consider selling a baby zebra to someone that thinks like that) My bull camel weighs over 2500#, and he is as mild as they come, but no damn way am I going into his pasture while he is in rut without a good long whip in my pocket just in case. I've had him for over 18 years now, and I have never had him be even the slightest bit aggressive, but I am not ignorant of a bull camels abilities either. So I would love to know all the details of your neighbors attack. My guess is he was sold a bull and the bull came into rut, which can be brought on by a lot of different things, one being, there was NO females for him to breed. The bull was establishing his dominance and that's when the attack occurred.
