I know nothing about camels, but saw your post and wanted to share a couple of anecdotes related to camels and the wild animal discussion going on in a thread below this one.
Whan I was shopping for zebras, a lot of people, even zebra people, told me that nothing is an sweet as a camel. Personally, I have never been excited by camels, but to each his own. After I got my zebras, a neighbor was talking to me and telling me how much he always wanted to get a camel. I took him a couple of copies of Animal Finders Guide so he could get serious about finding one if he really wanted one.
I haven't talked to this neighbor since I gave him the AFG copies (he is a distant neighbor) but subsequently heard that he had gotten a camel. Before I had a chance to get over and visit him to see the camel, I heard again that the camel attacked him and nearly killed him. He for sure does not have it now, but I still have not visited with him to learn the whole story. Seems to me that the moral of that story is that animals can kill you. Period. It is so essential that anyone choosing to deal with any animal must understand the possible dangers involved.
