Hi Sue
There is a big difference in his behavior around strangers. He seems to be more calm around women then around men. And I also notice that he is a lot more accepting of people that look similar to me. When I am around him and it is just the two of us, he is not at all spooky. He will walk over a tarp, and I can throw it over his back and stuff like that. No major problems with anything. When other people are around he is much more keyed up about everything. He is spooky about things he normally wouldn't spook at etc. He also is not crazy about some of them touching them.
I am interested in the nature Vs nurture question also. I have two horse stallions and one donkey jack and every one of them can be handled just like any other horse/donkey. They go out in the field with each other and with other horses and anyone can catch, lead, and work with them, but they have been raised that way since they were weaklings.
I am really hoping for the best with my little guy. I am really looking forward to driving him. My zebra mare is too small for me to ride so I am assuming that he will be too. I will sit on his back when he is older, but I don't want to hurt him so I think that driving will be his thing. We do a lot of work with wraping ropes in between and around his legs and dragging things behind him.
Sue do you have any zebras now?
