I congratulate on your level of training with him. It sounds like you might be able to keep him a stallion. And if you did, maybe you could breed him with mares that have been trained and perhaps get us started on true domestication. Wouldn't that be exciting! I think the "nature vrs. nuture" question with these guys is very fascinating. Perhaps there is a genetic component to their trainability and we should be reproducing those that are easy to handle.
Your experience with the bottle issue confirms what I have been hearing from other zebra experts, that it isn't just s simple case of bottle or bucket. Proper handling is the key from the very beginning. I would love to hear from people who have been lucky enough to get babies raised by trained mares- I suspect there aren't many of those. I think it is time for a more scientific inquiry.
