It took me three weeks to regain the confidence she had had in me before that experience. So the moral of the story is, clicker training works great, but DON'T RUSH IT!

Let me give you a couple of pieces of information from my experience with clicker training. I first tried it with Zelda when she wouldn't let me put the lead rope on her halter. I had no clicker, so just used the snap of my fingers as the clicker. I got a pocket full of sweet feed as the treat, since that is almost all they will eat that is not natural to them. With the approach, click and treat tactic, it took her TEN MINUTES to learn to let me walk up and snap on the rope. I was SO impressed that I decided I would use the same approach to getting her to let me handle her feet. Let me assure you that a zebras feet are MUCH more important to them than whether you reach under their chin to snap on a rope!
