Having been involved in the preparation of regional research frameworks in England I recognise the significant achievement set out in the publication of the Research Framework for Wales, especially in the level of detailed analysis and understanding presented. The Steering Group is to be congratulated on establishing a position which provides both a direction and catalyst to future archaeological research activity in Wales.
Personally, the effect is a 'rallying call', and if this is anything to go by I anticipate you will meet with a considerable degree of enthusiasim. The initial challenge therefore would seem to be establishing a focus and a means to co-ordinate input across the sectors. As you identified at Swansea, the production of the Framework might have been assisted if a co-ordinator role had been established. Such a role, within a properly structured forum, would now seem even more relevant if the momentum generated by the Framework is to progress.
