*The scene picks up in Struthers, Ohio. A small city, on the outskirts of Youngstown, Ohio. About an hour drive to Cleveland, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Not much around, except some good people, and some warm weather. Sitting at his computer, and trying to decide the fate of the company, in which he brought to the forefront of the industry in 1998, is none other than-- Michael Lucente, himself. The OWNER. The one who had a vision for an organization, so profound.. that it captivated audiences for nearly a decade. Just thinking back to some of those classic matches, and obsurd controversies, really just started to put a smile on the young man's face. Afterall, he was only 12 when him, and his older brother (only 15 at the time) put the XWF on the map! And now, at 22 years of age... he can reflect on something that was so easy, it was brilliant.*
Michael F. Lucente: How are ya? That's right. I'm Michael Lucente. I was the one who was responsible for bringing Vince McMahon in to start the company off, just for name value alone. I was the one who made Chris Jericho a household name. I mean, the one on tv was great, but the character I drew up.. was much bigger than the man himself. At first, results were always on time. And then, as time went on.. it became more difficult. Injuries, school, jobs. It all took its toll on me throughout the years. Hell, I even had a roster full of superstars here at the XWF... loyal, respectable, good working wreslters, that wanted to OVER THROW ME! They wanted my ass out, and they wanted someone else in charge. Ha. I was insulted..
*He lets out a smirk, because deep down, he knows only about a handful of people reading this will actually understand where he's coming from. But, for those select few.. it means the world to him.*
Michael F. Lucente: What could have I done differently? I don't know. I'm pretty proud at how things went down. I'm pretty stoked to see some of those familiar faces in the Hall Of Fame. Men, who dedicated their lives to putting on a helluva show for this business! For this company. MY company.... the X... W... F!! And I say "my" company, because well-- when I was just a kid, I never thought it would get this big. I never thought I'd have 40 or so guys come in here, and actually give me their all. We had at least 15 QUALITY champions. Outside of that, we had another 30, or so guys that pushed those champions to the limit. That, in any normal fed.. might actually held the World Title. But, around theses parts-- it's a little harder to earn that respect. THE XWF WORLD TITLE.... that's a special belt. That's a terrific honor, to be able to call yourself the XWF World Champion!
Not many men have been able to say they've had the priviledge of doing such. Of course, the ones who have held it.. we'll tell ya...... it's not as easy as it looks. I mean, you carry a certain standard when you're the FACE of this corporation. You have a lot of responsibilities to live up to. To not only show up weekly, but to blow the fans away! To make sure those other wrestlers in that lockerroom actually RESPECT you as their champion.
*Michael pauses for a moment, and tries to recollect himself.*
Michael F. Lucente: Put it THIS way. If your staff is pushing for YOU to be "the guy", and you can't get it done. You're letting EVERYONE down. You're making everybody look bad. You must show up, and give us your all. You must prove.. beyond a shadow of a doubt, that YOU are worthy of carrying this organization on your back. And if not, HA! Well... we won't have to look far for your replacement. He'll be an established young rookie, with a lot to prove, or a savvy old veteran, who's been waiting for his oppurtunity to shine. And then, on one fateful night.. At some big Pay-Per View event.... we'll put you to the test! Sure, you might be able to slack off during the weekly shows, when you're in a tag team match, and there's no-title on the line. But hey, when that strap's on the line, and you got to actually do battle with somebody looking to prove their worth. Hell, you better be on your 'A' game, and you better keep that momentum going after the show's over, if you're somehow able to walk away victorious. Because, this place wasn't built for slackers. This company wasn't meant for people who think they could just coast by, and their name alone we'll take them to the top. That's not how things work around here! That's NEVER how it's been.
*He changes directions for a moment, no longer just focusing on the World Championship.*
Michael F. Lucente: Look at some of the greatest TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS we have had! Look at some of the amazing feuds we've had, for some of the other belt that we've honored along the years. I mean, I can name you a few.. but, I'm sure you have your own in mind. I'll tell you what... nothing pleases me more than knowing War Machine, Phan, and Mars took their oppurtunities, and used 'em to their fullest potential! That men like Shotgun, and York grew to find some respect for this place. I mean, at one point.. we were rivals. Hell, at one point.. the XWF was rivals with numerous companies. One of our first Pay-Per Views was titled... "WORLDS COLLIDE!" And that was because another XWF, tried to knock us off. In the end.. we're still here. We are still going strong. Sure, it's been over a year since we've officially had any matches. Without a doubt, our longest break during this 10-year span. However, that's nothing to worry about. That's not what I'm here to focus on. I'm here to let you all know... that, THIS RUN. This time around! We are going to have some REAL COMPETITION. We are going to KNOW coming in to these events... that, this may be the end. That, everything is on the line! That, the winners.. the people who hold the belts last, we'll be forever remembered as the last men to ever reign as an XWF Champion! THAT is what makes this so special. THAT is what makes the timing of this so perfect. In 1998, I never would've imagined the XWF would've lasted over 2 years. But thanks to a handful of presidents, dozens of writers, and over a 100 superstars that have waltzed through these doors........ it's still alive.
*A look of satisfaction comes over his face.*
Michael F. Lucente: Yeah. It's a beautiful thing. It really is! I'm honored to be able, to be the man, who brought you this company. Without YOU GUYS... there would be no feuds. There would be no desire to keep it going. But knowing that at least 15, or so people feel the same way I do. Knowing that we touched so many people over the years, and inspired so many brave young men.. to step their game up! Well, that's what keeps me going. That's what brings me back here. I have a life outside the Xtreme Wrestling Federation. Just like each, and every single one of you. However, I wouldn't mind making this one of my top priorities... at least for one last attempt. At least to bring back some of the top guys, and re-live some of those classic rivalries. I know we have a loyal staff a players around theses parts. And therefore, it is up to US.. to make this company worthwhile once again. So, what do you say? The XWF starts booking shows once every 2 weeks? And hosts maybe 4-7 more Pay Per Views before the end of '08? I mean, it's only been what... a DECADE IN THE MAKING??
*With that said. He stares blankly at the screen, and wonders if his words will somehow get across to some people. Especially those, who have made this place what it is! As he sits back, and gets ready to sign off. The anticipation starts eating him inside. How long before the first person sees this promo? How long before the next group of people come through? How long before THIS guy is contacted? And, how much longer after that, before we convince THOSE guys to take one last crack at it? Either way. This got the ball rolling. And Michael knew, that in due time....... everything would come together, and be even BIGGER than he, or anyone else anticipated.
"THE XWF...... 10 years in the making!!"
